Najah Aziz is the owner/master stylist who created Like The River The Salon and grew it into the new model for successful hair salons. In just five years, LTR blossomed from an upstart in an over-saturated market to a thriving business that made an indelible mark in the industry and in the Atlanta community. Now, she is sharing her methods through Beauty Beyond The Hair to strengthen the industry she loves.
Najah abandoned a 16-year corporate career to change the industry she has admired since she was a child styling the hair of her six sisters and other family members.
By implementing a salon culture that is rare in our industry, Najah has transformed an upstart business into the envy of the industry in three years. She has used four core principles to make Like The River flourish:
A commitment to community service
Demanding complete professionalism from staff
A no waiting/double-booking policy
Building with talented, licensed stylists that buy into these core values
Her salon has been named “Best of Atlanta” three times by Atlanta Tribune The Magazine (2009, 2010 and 2013) and has been lauded as one of the top 100 salons in America by stylelist.com and AOL.
She and Like The River have been featured for its donation of services to local women’s shelters, special education students and cancer survivors in national publications The Chronicles of Philanthropy and Uptown magazine, as well as The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Fox 5’s Wednesday’s Child segment; CBS Better Mornings Atlanta; Fox’s Good Day Xtra! and Fox’s Good Day Atlanta.
An artist of immense talent, specializing in trendy short styles and beautiful cuts that complement her clients’ face and lifestyle, Najah’s schedule speaks to her demand; she is booked up to four weeks in advance. Her work has been featured in Essence.com and she has been profiled in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Fox 5 Atlanta, Rolling Out Magazine, among other outlets.
